Is the museum child-friendly?

Yes, the extensive exhibitions include lots of fascinating experiences for children. We also have two exhibitions specially for children: the hands-on exhibit ‘Dagmar & Valdemar’, and ‘Asgård’, where children can explore the world of Norse mythology.

Can I bring my dog to the museum?

If your dog is small enough for you to carry it throughout your visit, you are welcome to bring it to the museum. Larger dogs are not allowed.
Guide and assistance dogs are of course always welcome in the museum.

Do you have to book ahead?

We do not require advance booking but we are very happy to be given advance notification if you are planning a visit with a school class or large group.

Is there wheelchair access?

The museum covers about 2000 sq.m over multiple floors. There is access for disable people to all floors via the museum lift. The museum has a toilet for the disabled and a wheelchair available for those with difficulties in walking. The museum provides free admission for those accompanying disabled people.

Can I eat my packed lunch at the museum?

We have various options for groups eating their packed lunches atthe museum but there is not always sufficient space. Call or write to us for special arrangements.Other guests are welcome to enjoy a packed lunch in the cafe if they purchase drinks from us.

Is there a locked wardrobe?

Yes, we have lockable boxes for your things.

Can we leave our luggage with you?

We are happy to look after your luggage while you are visiting the museum. We are unable to assist at other times

Can I buy anything exciting at the museum?

Yes. The museum shop has a nice assortment of specially selected items and books.

Where can I park?

The closest available parking is immediately outside the museum in Odins Plads. Parking here is limited to three hours.

Otherwise, use the large car park at the edge of the town centre and walk the few hundred metres to the museum.
